You are the master of your journey.
HEALTH
You must put your health above comfort. Every day you are faced with this fundamental paradox, and that means each day is a new chance to win.
DISTRACTIONS
Your nature is such that you seek novel forms of information, and sometimes to such a degree that it interferes with your ability to conduct yourself in accordance with what your career demands of you.
MOVE
You are what stands between yourself at this moment, and the idealized version of yourself you envision when you imagine what it will be like to be an author.
NETWORKING
You are only as strong as the fellow people who submit their wills to you. Never forget the value your business partners add to your business. Relationships are an irreplaceable commodity and failure to maintain them will result in a cascading failure.
DEBT
You do not owe other authors your time, money, nor attention. It is not your job to help them find their way.
OWED
You do not deserve success! No one owes you a damn thing.
HONOR
You must be ruthlessly honest with yourself, and only tell the truth, even when it is hard. Especially when it becomes hard. It is only where it is hard, that the opportunity to improve and develop your self-discipline arises.
VOICE
Your voice is the only unique quality to writing.
Voice: being the sentence cadence you naturally use in prose; dialogue patterns (more natural speech, Stephen King; stylized speech Joss Whedon); and your personalized vocabulary (your unique go-to words that identify your writing).
ENERGY
Are you actually tired?
Go to sleep.
If not, shut down that excuse! Nothing great was ever made blissed out on a cloud. Creating is destructive. You sacrifice a piece of yourself to bring forth a work of fiction.
